California Privacy Notice

1. Scope

This notice supplements the Privacy Policy and applies to California residents whose personal information is processed by Diversified Check Studio, as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended.

Where we process personal information on behalf of a business customer, for example payee or signatory information a customer enters into its account, we act as a service provider to that customer. Requests concerning that information should be directed to the customer, and we will assist the customer in responding.

2. Categories of Personal Information Collected

In the preceding twelve months we may have collected the following categories:

• Identifiers. Name, business name, email address, postal address, telephone number, account identifiers, and IP address.
• Customer records. Billing contact details and transaction history associated with a license purchase.
• Commercial information. Licenses and entitlements purchased, license type, and support history.
• Internet or network activity. Log data, device and browser information, security events, and feature usage.
• Financial account information provided by the customer. Bank routing and account numbers entered by the customer for the purpose of printing checks on the customer's own accounts.
• Content uploaded by the customer. Signature images, logos, and design assets.
• Inferences. Limited operational inferences such as onboarding progress or production readiness status.

3. Sensitive Personal Information

Account credentials, two-factor authentication data, and financial account numbers entered by a customer are treated as sensitive. We use this information only to perform the service requested, to secure accounts, to prevent fraud, and to comply with law. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about individuals.

4. Sources of Information

• Directly from you, when you create an account, purchase a license, contact support, or enter data into the software.
• Automatically, through your use of the website and software.
• From service providers, such as our payment processor and email delivery provider.

5. Purposes of Use

Personal information is used to provide and maintain the service, issue and administer licenses, process payments, deliver support, secure accounts, prevent fraud and misuse, meet legal obligations, and communicate service and account information. Additional detail appears in the Privacy Policy.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

We disclose personal information for business purposes to service providers that support hosting, database operations, payment processing, email delivery, and automated assistance features. Categories of providers are listed in the Subprocessors and Service Providers document.

We may also disclose information in response to lawful requests, as described in the Law Enforcement Request Policy, and in connection with a corporate transaction.

7. No Sale or Sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

8. Retention

Personal information is retained for the period described in the Data Retention and Deletion Policy, which is based on account status, licensing and tax recordkeeping obligations, and legitimate security and dispute-resolution needs.

9. Your Rights

Subject to verification and to legal exceptions, California residents have the right to:

• Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, used, disclosed, and the purposes involved.
• Request deletion of personal information.
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, to the extent applicable.
• Opt out of sale or sharing, which does not apply because we do not sell or share.
• Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

10. How to Submit a Request

Submit a request using the contact information below or through the Contact page. Include the email address associated with your account and describe the request.

We verify requests by confirming control of the account email address and, for sensitive requests, by requiring authentication to the account. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission, and we may still require you to verify your identity directly.

We aim to acknowledge requests within ten business days and to respond substantively within forty-five calendar days, with one permitted extension where reasonably necessary.

11. Deletion Limits

Deletion may be denied in whole or in part where retention is required to complete a transaction, provide a requested service, secure systems, detect or prevent fraud, comply with a legal obligation such as tax and payment recordkeeping, or exercise or defend legal claims. Where a denial applies, we explain the basis.

12. Shine the Light

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

13. Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised to reflect changes in law or in our practices. The Last Revised date and version number will be updated when it changes.
