What does Diversified Check Studio do?

Do I need to install anything?

No. There is no desktop application, browser extension, or plugin. Everything runs in your browser and your work is stored in your workspace.

What does it not do?

It is not accounting software. There is no general ledger, no bookkeeping, and no expense tracking. It does not run payroll, calculate taxes, or file anything. It never connects to your bank, moves money, sends ACH, or reconciles a statement. It produces printed checks and a record of what you printed.

Is printing your own checks legal?

Printing checks on blank check stock is a normal, widely used practice, and blank check stock is sold for exactly this purpose. You are responsible for printing only on accounts you are authorized to draw on, and for meeting the requirements of your own bank. Diversified Check Studio does not provide legal advice.

What printer do I need?

Accepted Answer

A laser printer with a MICR toner cartridge is the recommended setup, and it is what most check printers use. Inkjet is not ruled out. MICR ink does exist for some inkjet printers, so check with your printer manufacturer to see whether they offer MICR ink or point to a compatible source. Even so, a laser printer with MICR toner is strongly suggested. When you are not printing checks, take the MICR cartridge out and put your regular black cartridge back in. MICR supplies cost more, and there is no reason to spend them on everyday documents.

Do I need magnetic ink or toner?

For checks read by automated bank equipment, magnetic ink or toner is what makes the MICR band machine readable. Regular toner prints characters that look correct but may not be read magnetically. Some banks no longer require magnetic ink. If yours says it is not required, also confirm that other banks receiving your checks will not reject them on their end. If there is any doubt, stay with MICR.

Where can I buy blank check stock?

Anywhere you prefer. Diversified Check Studio does not sell supplies, and the Resource Finder simply points to what exists. Another division of the company, buyblankchecks.com, does sell business size check stock in check on top voucher and three on a page formats, in a range of colors and in quantities from 25 to 200 for businesses that no longer need 500 or 1000 at a time.

What check stock does it support?

Business formats including standard business voucher, three per page, and top or bottom check position. Personal formats including wallet, desk-set, top-stub, and side-stub, plus a custom size you define.

Can I print on pre-printed checks from my bank?

Accepted Answer

No. Diversified Check Studio prints the complete check face onto blank check stock. It does not fill in checks that are already printed.

Why does my print come out slightly off?

Accepted Answer

Almost always printer scaling or a small feed offset. Print at actual size, never fit to page, then run a calibration test page and save the measured offset for that printer and stock.

Can I reprint a check that jammed or smeared?

Yes. Reprints are supported and recorded with a reason, so your check numbering record stays accurate.

How are check numbers assigned?

Each bank account carries a next check number. A run takes its numbers from that account and records them, so the same number is not silently issued twice.

What is the MICR line?

It is the band of characters along the bottom of a check that carries the routing number, account number, and check number in the E-13B typeface.

Will the MICR line match what my bank already prints?

That is the goal. Check Capture reads a photo of one of your existing checks and extracts the structure your bank uses, including field order, spacing, leading zeros, and check number digit width.

Can I test the MICR band before printing real checks?

Yes. The MICR Center can produce a test print so you can confirm the band position and characters before you use real stock.

Yes. Personal checks are fully supported, with wallet, desk-set, top-stub, side-stub, and custom sizes, and personal design looks that fit those proportions.

Do personal checks use a business license?

No. Personal bank accounts, personal designs, and personal check printing are unlimited and do not consume a business license.

Can I print a personal check on business size stock?

Most banks will allow it. You may have to format the MICR line the way a business check is formatted, so consult your bank to confirm the size is acceptable and to ask about any variation in the order of the MICR items. Once you have that confirmation, record it as a size certification in the workspace and printing is unlocked for that account.

How is my account number protected?

Account numbers are encrypted at rest and are not displayed by default. Revealing one is an explicit action that is recorded in your history.

Who in my organization can see what?

Access is controlled by roles and permissions. You decide who can design, who can print, who can manage bank accounts, and who can reveal an account number.

If your country's banking system isn't currently supported, please let us know. Your request may be the very first one we receive for your country's banking system. Rather than investing development time building compatibility for countries that may never be needed, we expand Diversified Check Studio in response to real customer demand. The first request for a new Banking Region is what begins our evaluation and planning process whenever practical. If you're the first person to request compatibility for your country's banking system, your request may be what brings support to life for you and future customers. You may also choose to be notified as soon as support becomes available.

How do you decide which Banking Region to build next?

The first Compatibility Request for a Banking Region serves as the trigger to evaluate and begin planning support for that Banking Region whenever practical.

The objective is not to build compatibility for every country's banking system before anyone requests it. Doing so would consume valuable development resources supporting banking systems that may never be needed.

Instead, Diversified Check Studio is architected so additional Banking Regions can be added individually as real customer demand arises.

Once implemented, a Banking Region becomes a permanent capability of the platform for all future customers.

This approach ensures development effort is invested where customers are actively requesting compatibility rather than where we merely speculate it may someday be needed.

Compatibility Requests directly influence our development roadmap. Every request is reviewed individually. Requests help us prioritize future Banking Regions.
