Print at actual size

Why scaling breaks a check and how to turn it off.

Last updated Aug 3, 20261 min read

Any scaling moves and resizes the MICR band, which is the one part of the check that must be dimensionally exact.

  • In the browser print dialog, set scale to 100 percent or Actual Size.
  • Turn off fit to page, shrink to fit, and any borderless or poster setting.
  • Turn off headers and footers so nothing prints in the margins.
  • Feed check stock from a tray, not a curved paper path, where you have the choice.
